Design Process

  • Collecting Inspiration: A continuous adventure! This can come from anywhere but some of my favorite places are; runway shows, nature, Pinterest, shopping trips, travel, architecture, social media, and museums. This is how I find color stories, direction for body shapes, trim inspiration, the overall aesthetic of a collection by collaging images that speak to me and that compliment each other.

  • Fabric Sourcing: Experimenting with hand feel, drape and textures. This step typically comes before designing the bodies, I like to know what I have to work with and see how the fabric wants to be used.

  • Designing trims and prints: Once the direction and fabrics are collected I move into designing trims and prints to compliment them. Playing with colorway options, metallic details, developing molds, and costing out trims.

  • Designing Bodies: Using programs such as procreate, adobe illustrator, photoshop, and New Arc AI, I sketch up ideas for bodies using the inspirations, prints, trims, and fabrics previously collected.

  • Tech Packing: Finally, I move into tech packing using excel, collecting information for the BOM, and producing specs for garments. Clear and detailed tech packs are one of the easiest ways to cut cost, making sure the vendor has all the information to make the sample right the first time.
